Sustainability and AV

When you think about sustainability and AV, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

Client: Speakeasy Events

These days, people are more aware than ever of their environmental impact and many are eager to show the steps they’re taking. We’re passionate about more than just awesome technology. We want your business to stand out, look great, and support the planet at the same time. That’s where our approach to sustainability and AV comes in.

Why sustainability matters to us at PCL Live

Sustainability isn’t just a trendy word to us, it genuinely matters. We know our clients care about it, and so do we.

Being based in Aberdeen, once the Oil & Gas capital of Europe, we’ve seen firsthand how the energy landscape has shifted. We’ve even supported events that discuss these transitions, so we’re right in the middle of the conversation. It’s part of who we are.

Sourcing, supplying and reducing our impact

We’re proud to play our part in reducing our carbon footprint in an industry where it’s not always expected. We start by sourcing products from eco-conscious suppliers like Leyard Europe, Clevertouch, and Logitech. Then, we focus on how we use and manage that technology.

AV setups often bring to mind big, bright LED screens and powerful sound systems, all of which can be energy-hungry. But we’re changing that perception. We provide energy-efficient, long-lasting AV solutions. For example, our 162” LED video walls can use the same, or even less, energy than a standard home TV. That means our clients can save power and reduce their environmental impact without sacrificing performance.

The full product journey: From use to reuse

The environmental impact of AV goes beyond usage. It starts with production and ends with disposal. That’s why we take a lifecycle approach.

We work only with suppliers who share our commitment to doing things sustainably. The products we choose are energy-saving, durable, and often designed for easy upgrades and recycling. That means less waste and longer-lasting value.

So what happens to old equipment?

When AV equipment reaches the end of its life in one setup, we look for other ways to give it purpose:

  • Repurpose: If the client can use it in another space, we help make that happen.
  • Donate: If they no longer need it but it’s still in good condition, we donate it to local schools or charities.
  • Recycle: If it can’t be reused, we send it to specialist recycling partners who break it down and reuse the components responsibly.

Let’s put theory into practice

Take our installation with Nexos, for instance. upgrading their legacy system of a 12 screen video wall by replacing it with the world’s first 162” touch-screen video wall, we’ve not only increased their functionality, but also helped them save on average 92% in energy costs over the past year. Imagine how much your company could save…

Keeping up… how do we do it?

Sustainability is an ongoing journey, and we’re committed to continually improving. Our founder, Adam, has always been dedicated to reducing the company’s environmental footprint, and this passion doesn’t stop. We’re constantly exploring new ways to enhance our green credentials. Whether it’s through more energy-efficient products, further reducing waste, or finding ways to engage our employees and customers in sustainability efforts.

There’s always more to be done, but we’re excited to keep pushing the boundaries and finding fresh, innovative ways to do it better. After all, this is not just ticking boxes. We’ll keep evolving, adapting and listening to our clients.
